Silence

WRITTEN FOR SUNDAY SCRIBBLINGS

SILENCE

Try to hear the silence.
Sit alone, and still,
Escaping all that's jazzy
And jangling and shrill.
Block out passing traffic,
Block out noisy birds,
Block out radio voices
And their bewildering words.
Block out the sound of breathing
And the beating of your heart.
Block out the whisper of the wind
As the curtains blow apart.
Have you found your silence?
No. And I know why.
Your silence has been broken!
There's a mosquito passing by!

GROWING OLD
(An Acrostic)

'Geriatric'! What a word!
Really! It is quite absurd!
Old externally I may be
While inside I am just a baby!
Isn't it a crazy thing!
Nature has a definite Spring!
Gardens don't mix-up each season!
*
Only humans commit this treason!
Letting Spring bloom in the heart
Defying each other Wintry part!
